Report on MA Elks 2010 Mid-Winter Cruise
Submitted by Jim Strojny MA Elks State President
I would be remiss, if I didn't Thank everyone who
attended this years Mid-Winter Cruise, as we had a great time. Mary and I
wish to personally thank our dear friends, Joyce and John Capitao for the
wonderful job they did as this year's Hosts of our Cruise. We could not
have asked for two finer people to be in charge of this endeavor. And I
know that they will out do themselves as Hosts for Don Dewar's Mid-Winter
Cruise next year! So from all of us who attended this year, THANK YOU Joyce
and John !
Pictured below are Jim and Mary Strojny with
Joyce and John Capitao, overlooking the harbor in St. Thomas.
I would like to also report that for those who
thought that going on a cruise during "School Vacation" week was a bad idea,
I have to report to you that you were wrong. For those of us who flew out
of Boston, we had direct flights to and from Miami, the ship we were on, the
Norwegian Pearl, was large enough that you really didn't deal with too many
kids, as they had their own areas on the ship and the nightly entertainment
on board was great. So even though our numbers were not what we would have
liked, the bottom line is we did raise funds for our Charities and I hope
that next year's Cruise will be the best one yet for our Association.
Pictured above is Jim Strojny, Liz Kellner of the
Winthrop Lodge (the 2010 Cruise Raffle Winner) and John Capitao, at the MA
Elks Cocktail Reception that was held on Sunday Night on board our Ship. So
make sure you purchase your raffle tickets for the 2011 Cruise as soon as
they come available, as you could be the next lucky Winner.
Pictured below are a few of us enjoying the
Margarita Tasting (one of the many different activities that were offered
during the cruise.

say, what goes on in Northern Maine, stays in Maine).
While we were up in the far reaches of Northern
Maine, we made a side trip to the Northern most Elks Lodge in the
Continental United States, the Presque Isle Lodge. Here pictured below is
a picture of the group entering their lodge.
