Elks National Hoop Shoot Contest This Weekend

The road to Springfield, MA starts all over the United States, as we in Massachusetts will once again be hosting the Elks National Hoop Shoot.

It can begin in rural areas like French Lick, IN or big cities like New York or Los Angeles. It started last fall with more than three million participants and now the Elks Hoop Shoot has come down to its final 72 participants, who come to Springfield Friday to take part in Saturday’s national finals at Western New England College, which will begin at 9:30 AM.

Boys and girls will compete in groups of 12 for age groups 8-9, 10-11, 12-13. Each is a regional champion who had to withstand fierce competition to advance to the national finals. Even though we in Massachusetts won't be having a shooter competing this year at the Nationals, we do have some very fine shooters representing the New England Region at this year's contest so try and make it out on Saturday to cheer them on, along with all the Finalists.  Here are the names of the New England Regional Winners.
