Update on the State Convention Saturday Evening Reception and Banquet

From President Jim Strojny and President Elect Donald Dewar

Since the membership voted at the February Regional meeting to change the dress at the Saturday Evening Banquet

At Sea Crest from Summer Formal to Business suit there still appears to be some confusion.

The following will be asked to wear their white dinner jacket for the Banquet.

·         All State Officers

·         Installing Suite

·         Head Table Guests

·         Past State Presidents

·         Current District Deputies

·         Esquires to the District Deputy (DD Designates)

All other members may wear business suit or Sports Jacket and Tie.  Ladies should focus on evening wear/cocktail dresses/gowns.

Please call or e-mail any questions to the Convention Committee.

This year we have the opportunity to be the Hospitality chairmen for the year for our incoming State President Don Dewar. At the 2010 MA Elks Association State Convention, we are looking for donations for the room both food and alcohol. Please contact us as soon as possible as to anything that you can bring for this so we won't get doubled up on items. Lets show our incoming State President that Massachusetts Elks truly know that "ELKS CARE-ELKS SHARE" by making the Hospitality Room the best.  We can be contacted at 978-744-1143 or at danddger@comcast.net

Update on Gail Falzone, Wife of MA Elks 1st Vice President Richard Falzone

Gail Falzone is still at Spaulding Rehab Hospital in Cambridge.  She developed a case of the shingles a few weeks ago that set her back a bit.  We saw Gail last Sunday and she has improved tremendously.  In fact she will be starting her Chemo and radiation on Tuesday June 1.

This is the first step of her long recovery process.  She will continue to return to Spaulding from Brigham & Women’s after her daily treatments.  Please continue to send Cards and well wishes to their home.

Boston Elks Holds 118th Memorial Service at the Elks Rest, Mt. Hope Cemetery

Boston Lodge of Elks #10 held it's Annual Memorial Service on Sunday May 30, 2010 at the Elks Rest, Mt. Hope Cemetery, Mattapan MA. For the last 118 years the Boston Lodge has commemorated the lives of many of their past members, including that of Charles Algernon Sidney Vivian, the founder of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks who along with his wife Imogene are buried there, and whose grave is decorated with a towering bronze Elk; silent sentinel to his honor and goodness. The Service also commemorates the lives of their Lodge's absent members, with special emphasis on those whom we have lost in the last year.
