Attention - Change in Date of MA Elks Blood Drive At Our Annual State Convention
 
The MA Elks Blood Donor Committee is running it's First Annual Blood Drive to be held at the Sea Crest Convention Center Hotel !

It will be held on Thursday June 11, 2009 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. (not Friday June 12, 2009).  We are sorry for the mix up of days, hopefully we will still have a decent turnout of donors.

To schedule an appointment please call the Red Cross at 1-800-GIVE-LIFE. Tell them you are giving your donation to the MASS ELKS ASSOCIATION Blood Drive.

All donors will receive a coupon for a box of Chocolate covered Strawberries from Edible Arrangements and also will be eligible to win a pair of Red Sox tickets !!!

Help is needed to run the canteen and registration booths.

MA Elks Incoming State President's Hospitality Room at Sea Crest
 
The date is fast approaching and we are finalizing the preparations for the incoming State President Jim Strojny's Hospitality Room at Seacrest.
 
If you are planning on bringing a food or drink item, can you please contact either Karen Norton at dopey2149@aol.com or Denise Shurtleff at dshurtleff@design-mark.com. This will help to ensure we don't get too much of one thing.  Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!   
 

Falmouth Lodge Invites Early Convention Attendees to their Lodge on Thursday Night
 
Falmouth Lodge #2380 would like to extend and invitation to members who are arriving at the State Convention early, to come join them on Thursday June 11, 2009 for some hospitality South District style.  We will being having a buffet for those Elks that come early to the convention and would like a place with warm friendship and good fellowship.  So please stop by and visit starting late afternoon till early evening.
 
Also, Falmouth Lodge is having their Flag Day Ceremony at 12:30 PM on Sunday June 14, 2009, for those of you leaving the convention you are welcome to come by and participate.  Lunch will be served after the ceremony.  For those participating dress code is either White or Black Tux.  For those visiting it is Business Casual.

MA Elks Seniors Golf Tournament - Openings Still Available
 

There are still openings for the MA Elks Annual Senior's Golf Tournament, which will be held on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at the Ridder Farm Golf Club, E. Bridgewater, MA.  With the Awards and Dinner to be held at the Randolph Lodge #2130.  All for only $100.00 per golfer.  Please consider playing or sponsoring a hole.

Texas Hold’em Tournament at the MA Elks State Convention
 
We will be holding a, Texas Hold’em Tournament at the MA Elks State Convention on Friday Night June 12, 2009, as our convention fundraiser.  Are you as good as the Pros on TV?  Here is your chance to prove it!  This tournament is for Elks and Elks Guests only.  Including a $1,000.00 First Place Cash Card, (1 in 10 Additional Cash Card Prizes).  The Tournament starts at the conclusion of the Annual Memorial Service.  Entrance Fee is $75.00 per player.  You may pay at the door, but to ensure a seat, early registration can be made by check, payable to the MA Elks Association and forwarded to:  Linda Burdett, 27 Franklin St. Attleboro, MA 02703.  Also, for those who do not play Texas Hold’em their will be other games available that evening.   And additional side tables will be available for those not lucky enough to advance to the final table.  For more information contact Frank Staffier, Jim Brevigleiri, Bob Burdett or Larry Quaglia.

Franklin Lodge #2136 Makes Donation to American Brain Tumor Association
 
Franklin, MA – On May 19, 2009 a check for $10,171 was presented to the parents of Chad Dunbar for the American Brain Tumor Association.  Chad was a local resident who died of brain tumor at the age of 21.  Lodge members participated in the 9th annual Chad Dunbar Bowling Tournament held at the Walnut Hill Bowl in Woonsocket, RI, which was followed by dinner and dancing at the lodge.  In its 9 year history the organizers have raised over $72,000 to benefit brain tumor research.  Pictured from left to right are Exalted Ruler Roland Thibodeau, Ed and Gayle Dunbar and Esteemed Leading Knight Mark Ellis.
