MA Elks Hold 4th Annual Veterans Motorcycle Ride

A Great time was had by all at the 3rd Annual MA Elks Motorcycle Run held at the Weymouth Elks on Saturday August 1, 2010.  Don Barnard and his committee once again put together a well organized and successful Run to benefit our State Association's Veterans Fund, as witness by the turnout of riders and the money that was raised.

Pictured Below at the huge raffle table are standing L-R MA Elks State President Don Dewar, MA Elks 1st Vice President Frank Barone and Susan Singler of the Braintree Lodge and seated William Singler of the Braintree Lodge, who worked the raffle.

A first occurred as the roar of close to 90 motorcycles once again entered the grounds of the Brockton V.A. Medical Center and stopped at the Spinal Injury Unit, as the riders visited with the Veterans who reside there.  It was a great experience to see the anticipation on the faces of the men and women who live there as they were so looking forward this year to seeing all of the riders, and the many riders that showed how grateful they continue to be for those veterans service to our country.  It was amazing how these hospitalized veterans thanked us for being there.  This is was Elkdom at it's finest.  Prior to the riders arrival a cookout was put on by the Randolph Elks for the veterans.

Pictured below is one of the Veterans sharing a moment with one of the riders.

Pictured below are a few of the Veterans who are seen waving and thanking the riders for their visit, as they were getting ready to leave after their visit.

When we returned to Weymouth Lodge we had a great meal and entertainment, thanks to this year's committee for putting on a great ride and for all their hard work, that will help us again this year, in providing for our Veterans needs.

Pictured below is our State President Don Dewar, with two of the Army Recruiters, who drove the Army Hummer for the ride.  It looks like Don just might be interested in re-enlisting !!!!
