Today is: International Jugglers
Day in the United States
On this
day in 1775 - Paul Revere, Samuel Prescott and William Dawes ride to
alert that “The British are coming!” (Revere reaches Lexington and
warns John Hancock, but is later captured; Dawes turns back, leaving
Samuel Prescott as the only one to make it to Concord!)
MA ELKS ASSOCIATION
2009 “ELK ON THE TRAIL” ANNUAL MEMORIAL
SERVICE
Dear Exalted
Ruler and Members,
The 86th
Anniversary of the “Elk on the Trail” Ceremony will be held on Saturday,
June 20th, 2009 at 12:00pm. It will be held at the Elk
Memorial on Whitcomb Summit, Route 2, in Florida, Massachusetts.
This is the only State Association sponsored
Veteran’s Memorial Program. Please help us honor our deceased Veterans
by attending this very important service. All members, families, and
guests are invited to attend.
As in past
years, we are asking that each Lodge send a representative to the
service, and participate in honoring our deceased Veterans by bringing a
small wreath (preferably artificial as it will be there all year)
representing their lodge. Upon arrival please register so that you will
be included in the Ceremony.
The Greenfield
Lodge # 1296 will again be serving breakfast at their lodge on Saturday
morning for those who wish to arrive early and relax before “climbing
the mountain”.
The dress of
the day will be jacket and tie.
Dinner will be
served at the North Adams Lodge #487 immediately following the ceremony.
Since the
weather can sometimes be on the cool (or wet) side, please bring a
jacket or sweater along with a lawn chair if you wish to sit.
In case of
rain, the service will be held at the North Adams Lodge.
Fraternally,
Douglas A.
Merrick, P.D.D.

Update on West Springfield/Agawam Lodge #2174
Loyal Knight
Carl Hoffman, Loyal Knight of West
Springfield Agawam Lodge is still at UMass Memorial Medical Center
in Worcester, he has had skin grafting for the burns on his left
side and is getting stronger every day. While he still has a long
way to go for complete recovery we are very hopeful for a good
prognosis. His sister is elated that she got some really "fresh"
answers to some of her questions to him and takes that as a sign
that he is doing a lot better.

Reminder Elks National Youth Week Is the First
Week in May
Just a reminder that first week in May is
Elks Youth Week. Does your lodge have something planned to observe this
during the week? Also that the Youth Activities Reports are due to
Grand Lodge on May 1, 2009..
Thanks
