Correction to State Convention Application Announcement

In my previous e-mail sent by Jim Strojny, cost of Plan B was incorrect.  Please see below for the correct pricing.

For those not staying at the convention hotel but joining the convention are offered Plan B. Reservations and Payment for Plan B choices must be made no later than 1 week before the convention and will not be sold at the convention.

Cocktail Reception & Banquet is      $  57:00 per person

Saturday Luncheon is                      $ 20:00 per person

Billerica Lodge #2071 Past Exalted Ruler Joe Wells Passes Away
 
I have the sad duty to report that Horace "Joe" Wells, PER from Billerica Lodge #2071 passed away on Wednesday November 12, 2008.  Calling hours will be on Friday, November 14, 2008 from 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM at the Brandon  Funeral Home, 305 Wanoosnoc Rd in Fitchburg, MA.  A graveside service immediately follows.  The Billerica PER's are expected to perform the Ritual.

Funeral Arrangements for  Beverly/Salem Lodge #1309 PER Bob Mello
 
 

 

Robert Roger Mello, 74, died Wednesday at the Addison-Gilbert Hospital in Gloucester after a brief illness.   He was the husband of Nellie M. (Butmen) Mello with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.

 

Robert was very active in the Beverly Lodge of Elks, No 1309 and had served as exalted ruler for two terms in 1989 -1990 and in 1993-1994. He was the Elk of the Year in 1991 and was chairman of the Veterans Committee for the Chelsea Soldier’s Home for the Beverly Lodge of Elks, a committee he loved so much.

 

A Visitation will be held on Sunday November 16, 2008 from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the  20 Church St., Peabody facility (Downtown).  His Funeral will be held on Monday November 17, 2008 at 10:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John’s Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of  sympathy may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA. 01701 or to Solider’s Home of Chelsea Memorial Fund,  91 Crest Ave., Chelsea, MA. 02150 in his memory.


Results of the 7th Annual MA Elks Ten Pin Bowling Tournament
 

The 7th Annual Massachusetts Elks Tenpin Bowling Tournament was held on Sunday, November 2nd at AMF Auburn Lanes. Division 1 winning team was from the Auburn-Webster Lodge with 2474 pins scratch (John Delaney, Sal Moccia, Kevin Packard & Brian Morrissey). Division 2 winners were from the Franklin Lodge (Frank Liotta, David Topino, Rollie Thibodeau) with a score of 1628. Also to note, second place was Falmouth (2433) and Fall River (2425)--Fall River also bowled a team game of 902!

The high individual game was John Delaney (Auburn-Webster) with a 267 and Kirk Marks (Falmouth) with a 266. The high individual series was John Delaney, 691 and Bill Berg (Auburn-Webster) with a 690.

Thank you to our advisor Ed Goba (Norwood) and to Shaun Harty (Lawrence) for their assistance and to all of the members/Lodges that supported this event.
