Montague Elks Lodge #2521: held a Lodge meeting on Thursday, December 1, 2005 where Stan Ambo was awarded a 6 Lodge Veteran's Certificate by the chair, Teresa Miner, PER, of the Montague Veteran's Committee. Stan received the certificate for recognition of his service to our country. Stan joined the Air Force in 1978 in which he served for four years. He joined the Air National Guard in 1987 and served with a unit in Bosnia, Korsavo, Kuwait and most recently, Iraq. Stan holds the rank of Tech Sargeant and inspects and
repairs aircraft.

 

Lexington Lodge No.2204:On Sunday, November 13, 2005, the Lexington Lodge hosted it's annual Lexington Council on Aging Senior Citizens Dinner.   Over 190 local senior citizens thoroughly enjoyed a complete dinner of baked stuffed chicken, potatoes, vegetables and dessert with Bingo rounding out the afternoon. Jim Oliveiri Sr orchestrated dozens of lodge volunteers that cooked, served, cleaned and entertained these very special guests.  

  

North Attleboro Lodge No.1011:Turkey Day breakfast on Thursday, November 24, 2005 was a great hit. Thanks to all the members who attended this event and thanks to the kitchen crew and volunteers who donated their time. Thanks to Al Chabot, Jim Breverlli, Mo Marcoux, Ric Chabot, Steve Aucoin, Robyn & Lillian our waitresses and others who also donated their time getting up early and coming out to a snow storm to make this event a great hit.  GREAT JOB !!!!!!!!!  Attleboro Elks Lodge No.1014: was proud to host a Spaghetti Dinner complete with salad and dessert on Wednesday, December 7th to the Veterans of the VA Hospitals from Dorchester, Roxbury and Brockton.  Several World War II veterans as well as veterans from other wars all participated.  It turned out to be a special event for two reasons, December 7th (Pearl Harbour was attacked without a declaration of war by Japanese aircraft, sinking much of the US fleet) and Santa Claus (Attleboro Elks own Phil Ventola) paid a visit with gifts for the vets.

 

 

 

 

North District: The Billerica Elks along with the Tewksbury and Chelmsford lodges distributed fingerless Gloves to the Veterans at the Bedford VA hospital at Christmas time. The Gloves were obtained through the Grand Lodge Veterans program. 

 

 

 

 

 Attleboro Lodge No.1014: hosted the “Boy Scout Court of Honor” on December 9th in the Golden Antler Room.  Bob Silva, Exalted Ruler and Bob Blackader, Scouting Liaison for the Elks presented the 23 Eagle Scouts with flags and certificates in honor of their achievement to Eagle Scouts while their family and friends along with the dignitaries from the Council Executive Board looked on.  Following the presentation a collation was made and served by members of the House committee.

 

 

Montague Elks Lodge No.2521: Held it's annual Senior Holiday Dinner on Sunday, December 18th at 12 noon at its Lodge, 1 Elks Avenue in Turners Falls. A full turkey dinner was served to about 200 people, prepared by John Grace and his kitchen staff.  The Senior Holiday Dinner was free to senior citizens who reside in the towns of Montague and Gill. The Montague Elks Lodge officers, other members and guests of the Montague Elks lodge served the meal. Music was provided by some members the Turners Falls High School Chorus and Joanne Greenleaf, Lodge Organist.  Santa was in the area for pre-holiday planning and was able to stop by to say hi to everyone in attendance.  Jason Clark, Sr., PER, was the chairperson for this event. Merry Christmas from the Montague Elks!

 

Attleboro Lodge No.1014:- The Attleboro Elks has a long history of supporting literacy by contributing new books every year for each public school library in Attleboro.  This year the Elks are expanding on the legacy by providing new dictionaries to every one of the city’s 472 third graders.  Bob Silva, ER said the Elks view the new gifts as a tool that the students will be able to use throughout their school careers.  In addition, during a school committee meeting recently, on behalf of the Elks Lodge, Silva presented a gift of over $300 worth of new fiction and non fiction books to be spread throughout the city’s schools.  The Attleboro Elks know how to show that “Elks Care and Elks Share”.

 

Falmouth Lodge No.2380: Exalted Ruler, Bill Moorehead and Youth Activities Chairperson, Sharon Thompson present Christopher Page with his Eagle Scout Award and flag. Christopher and his parents were treated to dinner at the lodge prior to the presentation.

 

Montague Lodge No. 2521: Presented a  check in the amount of $700 to the Montague Department on Monday, November 21st at the Montague Selectman's Meeting held at the town hall in Turners Falls, MA. Pamela Lester, Loyal Knight of the Montague Elks, presented the check to Chief Raymond Zukowski who accepted the gift on behalf of the
Montague Police Department. The two pieces of equipment were presented to those in attendance to see. There are: a ram and an entry kit. They will be used when needed for a forced entry in a drug raid or other situation where the police officers must breach a locked barrier.

 

Lowell Lodge No:  The Lowell Elks donated dictionaries to the Lowell third –graders as part of the dictionary program. Students lined up in the Morey School cafeteria and thanked lodge member Chuck Giardinella, PDD as they took their copies of the student dictionary. “A lot of our kids are at poverty level, and they don’t really have the opportunity to get these at home,” said assistant Principal Joanne Kelleher.  Chuck Giardinella said the Lodge also plans on giving dictionaries away to third-grades in the Dracut and Tyngsboro elementary schools.

  

Middleboro Lodge No. 1274: The Middleboro Gridiron Club recently held its annual awards banquet at the Lodge.  Middleboro High School football players and cheerleaders who participated in the 2005 season were honored.  Trophies were presented to top performers.  The Gridiron Club presented the Middleboro Lodge of Elks with a team photo plaque in recognition of the Lodges continued support of the Middleboro High School football program.  E.R. Kathy Graham and Leading Knight Dave Scott accepted the plaque on behalf of the Lodge. 

 

 Beverly Lodge No.1309:  Beverly Elks held a Calendar Raffle for the month of December to benefit the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.  The Lodge raised a total of $1,790.00 to aid the victims of the Hurricanes.  All of the prizes for the month long raffle were donated by area business owners.  Shown here, drawing one of the daily winners, from the left is member Sue Bresnahan, Katrina Raffle Chairperson Rose Holden, and Leading Knight Russell Rideout.

 

 

Attleboro Lodge No.1014: Attleboro Elks recently presented to each third grader in the Attleboro School System with their own personal dictionary.  The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks is a proud sponsor of youth programs throughout the United States.  The work and generosity of the Elks help today’s youth become tomorrow’s scientists, industrialists, artists, athletes, doctors, judges, lawyers, teachers and much more.  The purpose of The Dictionary Project is to provide dictionaries to students to keep and to use as their own personal reference books. A dictionary is an essential tool for a quality education.  The Elks seek to provide dictionaries to all of the children who are in school. The program is typically implemented in the third grade each year to improve the reading ability and comprehension of all children, everywhere.

 

 

Middleboro Lodge No.  DD Pat Rooney’s School Street School Kindergarten Class made Valentines Cards for Veterans at the Brockton Veterans Administration Hospital. Middleboro Lodge of Elks Veterans Committeemen Dick Tinkham and Bill Tubman distributed the cards to the Veterans

 

 

 

Lawrence Lodge No.165: Past Exalted Ruler Gerald D'Angelo is seen pinning his daughter Diane while his wife Lola looks on.  Both were indoctrinated into the lodge along with 45 other new candidates at Past Exalted Rulers night.  Gerry served as Exalted Ruler for the evening.

 

 

 

Falmouth Lodge No.2380: Justin Zmuda, grandson of  Americanism Chairperson, PDD Edmund Zmuda along with John Simchock, Veteran's Committee Chairperson, presented the students of Mrs. McGonagle's 2nd grade class of North Falmouth Elementary with a Massachusetts State flag.  Justin is a student at North Falmouth.  The students have been corresponding with a troop in Iraq and recently received an American flag from their pen pals and  the school requested a Massachusetts flag to be hung in their cafeteria along side the American flag.  A call was made to Ed Zmuda and he was able to obtain one.

 

Tewksbury/Wilmington Lodge No.2070:  On Friday, February 17th the presented all 3rd grade students in Tewksbury and Wilmington their own person dictionary as well as all 3rd grade teachers. The Exalted Ruler, Harry See, Trustee, Jerry Rudolph, Officer, John Hourihan and Lou Connolly, Lodge Public Relations Chairman and having the honor of the Massachusetts State Elks Association State President, John Capitao speaking to the students with the Superintendent from Wilmington, Mr William Mc Alduf, principals and teachers present for the presentation at the Shawsheen and Woburn St School. Tewksbury North Street School with the Principal Kristan Rodriguez and teachers and staff were present for the distribution. Truly demonstrates that Elks Care-Elks Share.

 

 

 

Framingham Lodge No.1264:  The Framingham lodge held an afternoon luncheon a lodge honoring  veterans in their community.  Pictures are Robert Anspach PDD, Luther Keil Lodge Inner Guard and Richard Caron, PDD

 

 

 

Fitchburg Lodge No.847:  The Fitchburg lodge presented dictionaries to all the 3rd graders at the Crocker Elementary school kin Fitchburg Ma.
